AttaBoy Jim is a single channel video that recounts the story of Matthew Williams’s lynching in Salisbury, MD, in 1931. Filmed in silhouette, the actors read the sometimes-contradictory historical newspaper accounts of the event. Who is telling the truth? And who’s truth? AttaBoy Jim reveals both the horror of lynching and the use of language as a tool of suppression.
